Ignition Entertainment has signed on with Epic Games for use of its Unreal Engine 3 technology in an upcoming game. There's no word on what that game is, but it is a new, original first-person shooter (FPS) in development by Ignition Florida. The unannounced game is about a year away, scheduled for a late 2009 release.

“Epic’s Unreal Engine 3 is an extremely versatile engine,” said Jeremy Stieglitz, Game Director and Lead Designer, Ignition Florida. “So when deciding on technology for Ignition Florida's first next-generation video game, there was no questioning that Unreal Engine 3 is the way to go.”

Ignition Entertainment is known for some of its Nintendo DS and PSP games (Zoo Keeper, Mercury Meltdown, Teenage Zombies), is working on a few new games (Tornado), and is bringing Vampire Rain: Altered Species to the PS3. Could this be the first Xbox 360/PS3 FPS from Ignition? Visit the official website for Ignition Entertainment here. See more on the Unreal Engine 3 tech here.

Monday, 07 July 2008
Last week, the PLAYSTATION 3's Firmware 2.4 update didn't last for one day, as it was pulled due to reported bugs. It was a rough debut for one the biggest updates for the PLAYSTATION 3 XMB (xross media bar) interface. The update brought the much anticipated in-game XMB and trophy support (see more on that here). Gaming website CVG is reporting that they've been told an update is expected by this Wednesday, 7/9/08. The 2.41 update will hopefully fix the issue.

Monday, 07 July 2008
SEGA has launched the official website for Samba De Amigo. Jump to it here. There's screenshots, videos, downloadable images and features of the rhythm game. Unfortunately, there's no confirmed track listing, information on the downloadable tracks (via Nintendo Wi-Fi Pay & Play, which we'll probably hear more of at E3), or any confirmation of those rumored maraca add-ons. So plenty more remains to be revealed.

Features of Samba De Amigo, as noted by SEGA:
- A Brand New Dual Wii Remote Control Option gives players’ untethered, maraca-shaking freedom with two remotes or the Wii Remote and Nunchuck.
- Fun for Two Players in competitive or cooperative multiplayer modes, including Love Love mode where two players synch up their moves to earn points and test their compatibility.
- The Samba-infused Soundtrack features over 40 upbeat, festive favorites from the original game, plus many new tunes.
- Online Leaderboards and Friends Lists let players post their best scores and compare them to their friends’ scores.
- Multiple Game Modes include Career, Single Player, Multiplayer, Training and Records.
- Special Modes expand gameplay with Quick Play, Classic, Battle, Survival, Hustle and Mini-games.

Samba De Amigo will be available for the Wii in September 2008.

Bungie Day is today, 7-7-08. Stop by the Xbox LIVE Marketplace to get a free new multiplayer map, Cold Storage, Bungie Day gamer pics and the Bungie Day Xbox 360 dashboard theme. There's also a price drop on the Legendary Map Pack, which is available for 600 Microsoft Points ($7.50), down from the usual 800 Microsoft Points ($10).

What is Bungie Day? Microsoft explains: "The tradition of Bungie Day was born in part due to the significance the number 7 has played in all of Bungie’s games over the years, including the “Halo” series (7 Halo rings, Master Chief is Spartan 117, etc.), and each year the developer makes a point to use this date to treat fans to something special – usually new content, a free download or other surprise."

Also playing off the number seven are the 7 Bungie Day gamer pics. The gamer pics and theme will be available for today only, so make sure to stop by Xbox LIVE today to pick those up. See the "And on the Seven7th Day..." video trailer below from Bungie (or as they like to call it, "ViDoc"). The video will give you a preview of the new Cold Storage map, based on the Chill Out map found in Xbox Halo game, Halo: Combat Evolved.

Eledees (Elebits) Coming To Nintendo DS [screenshots] E-mail
Nintendo DS News Bits
Written by Rivithed
Saturday, 05 July 2008
Eledees, the name used in Europe and Australia for "Elebits," is making its way to the Nintendo DS. Konami Europe has announced Eledees: The Adventures of Kai and Zero. Konami originally introduced the game on the Wii, where you explored a house in search of the energizing beings known as Elebits (or Eledees). You'd have to rummage through rooms (sometimes making it look like a bad crime scene) with the Wii Remote. The DS game is a direct sequel to the original Wii game. Using the DS stylus, you'll have to uncover and chain the electric creatures together for power.

About Eledees: The Adventures of Kai and Zero:
"Eledees: The Adventures of Kai and Zero acts as a direct sequel to the Wii game, and adds a mystical slant to the story. The two titular heroes find themselves transported into a mysterious realm by a magical bus created by Kai’s inventor Father. As they get used to their surroundings, the pair must use all their skills to gather the Eledees they will need to assist their progression, with Kai making good use of his special capture gun, which is used to grab the evasive Eledees, and lift, manipulate and move any objects in his path.

In addition to locating the various Eledees to power devices, players are also challenged with locating a new species of ‘Omega’ Eledees, who boast a wider range of abilities and act as side-kicks who accompany Kai through the vast stages. As the game progresses, ‘Omega’ Eledees capable of locating hidden areas, freezing water, and illuminating dark areas must be found and put to good use to progress to later stages."

Multiplayer gameplay is also support by using the Nintendo DS Wi-Fi to challenge other players in two or four-player battles.

The artwork is translating over nicely to the DS, as you can see in the screenshots here.
