Wii Kiosks Gamestop Exclusive; Maybe No Wii/PS3 Pre-orders E-mail
General Gaming News Bits
Written by BigDMcgee
Wednesday, 04 October 2006
At an annual sales conference for Gamestop in Dallas, Texas, it was announced that only Gamestop would carry Wii kiosks (at least for launch, we don't know how long afterwards). This may be a major way to boost sales for Gamestop, but is strange considering Nintendo needs all the publicity they can get.

Also Gamestop has apparently not even decided whether or not it will even offer pre-orders. This may be due to reactions from last year's Xbox 360 launch, when more pre-orders then available consoles caused much customer anger.

As reported from Dallas Morning News.

TotemBall Now Available For Free From Xbox Live Marketplace E-mail
Xbox 360 News Bits
Written by Rivithed
Wednesday, 04 October 2006
TotemBall is a new motion controlled game, a first for the Xbox 360, just released on the Xbox Live Marketplace today. The Xbox Live Arcade game is a free download, but it requires the Xbox Live Vision Camera.

Controls should be familar to gamers who have used the PS2's EyeToy. You basically use both hands to direct your turtle character. Roll around on a ball to pickup objects while avoiding taking a spill in the water. You can pickup coins, bonus items and collect totem pieces (each one plays a musical instrument of the background music track). Pickup enough speed and you can skip across the water. Slow down and your turtle will sink.

There's a learning curve to it, but mastering it is the tricky part. One cool bonus level, a little less nerve wrecking, is like a pinball game where you can smack your TotemBall around and rack some bonus points up. See a previous article and watch a video of TotemBall here.

Add my "OH NO!" to the list. A new gaming accessory for the Xbox 360 from Digital Innovations, creators of disc care and repair accessories, releases taunts to other gamers in multiplayer games. The device hooks up between the Xbox 360 controller and the headset mic.

From digitalinnovations.com:

- Record through the 360 headset mic or from any audio source to make wacked out clips to drive your opponents nuts!

- Record your voice using the XBOX 360 headset microphone.

Hmm... maybe Digital Innovations has something up its sleeve. Get people with SmackTalk to annoy the heck out of gamers so they toss their CDs and have to pickup a Disc Repair System. Joy.
