Another surprise that came with Nintendo’s E3 press conference on the Wii controller is a speaker is built in the controller of the Nintendo Wii. The speaker helps immerse the player even more with sounds that typically would be heard closer to the player coming from the speaker, instead of from the TV or other audio sources further away. For example, in Zelda, when Link pulls back an arrow from his bow, you would hear the stretching and fling from the arrow on the Wii controller. A nice touch to put gamers closer in the interactive dimension.
Judging by the crowds lining up for nearly 2-3 hours to get play time on the Wii, it looks like Nintendo may be the next-gen console underdog.

An exclusive Xbox 360 USB camera will allow gamers to customize their gamer pics and offer video chat capabilities in games and on Xbox Live. Several games that will utilize the Xbox Live Vision camera include: “Pinball FX” (Zen), “Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six® Vegas” (Ubisoft), “TotemBall” (Freeverse) and “World Series of Poker: Tournament of Champions” (Activision). A standard USB camera cannot be used with the Xbox 360 due to some parental controls built in to the exclusive Xbox Live Vision video camera. The camera will recognize parental settings on the console and will replace any video feeds that a minor would see (or show) with player’s standard gamer pic icons.
Xbox Live Vision launches in North America and Europe on Sept. 19 and the rest of the world on Feb. 10, 2007.

Bungie has officially announced Halo 3 with a trailer shown at Microsoft's pre-E3 conference.
From Bungie.net:
"CJ Cowan, Bungie's director of cinematics discussed one of the most startling moments in the piece, the return of Cortana, "Given the variety of character and story arcs at the end of Halo 2, we wanted to boil down our announcement to a few key threads. Cortana and the Chief being a galaxy apart is a situation we haven't seen before, and is something that is a powerful component to Halo 3. We are using her transmissions in the demo to give the viewer a few subtle clues to her situation and state of mind, without revealing any specifics we want to save for the game itself."
Here are the links to the trailer: View the trailer here (Windows Media Player) or here in Quicktime Movie format.
