Xbox's Major Nelson took a picture of the Playstation 3 being demoed at GDC '06. Below is a small pic of the dev kit behind a plastic case. Here is a larger picture of it, where Major Nelson notes " I could not help but notice, but doen’t it looks like the devkit is running Windows XP?". The "boomerang" controller for the PS3 was absent from the display, still leaving us to wonder if it is the final controller design. Thursday we'll know more!

Clean Your Xbox 360 Cache E-mail
Xbox 360 News Bits
Written by Rivithed
Tuesday, 21 March 2006
Thanks to Bethesda Game Studios, they have a fix to get your Xbox 360 Hard drive working faster. This comes as a result of some long load times that are appearing for the newly released Elder Scrolls Oblivion (Xbox 360). This should help load times on your other 360 games too. Here's the tip:

"Oblivion uses the Xbox 360 hard drive extensively to cache (copy and reuse) game data. This is done to optimize all loading the game does. It has been found in rare cases on some Xbox 360s that the cached data can get overly fragmented. This exhibits itself by the game taking a long time to load anything from menus, dialogue, sounds, objects, levels, and more.

To solve this problem, reset your Xbox, and hold down the A button as the game is booting up. If any button is held while Oblivion is loading, it will clear its hard drive cache, and create a new one. Once you see the “Bethesda Softworks” logo video, the game is already loaded, and the cache should have been cleared.

Note, this does not effect your game in any way other than loading. You will not lose any saved data."

The Gameboy Micro has been reduced from $99 to $89 by Nintendo. This puts it only $10 apart from the Nintendo Gameboy Advance. If you prefer a crisper, sleeker Gameboy (and if you're an older gamer, with design sensibility and some good vision left), add it to your gaming collection!

Ebay Sales for Metal Gear $100+ E-mail
General Gaming News Bits

Konami's Metal Gear Solid Subsistence was released last week as a beefed up, online playable version of Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. It also included two of the games that started the series. Subsistence has received rave reviews and nearly perfect scores (see here on gamerankings.com). If you pre-ordered, you probably got the nicely packaged Vol.1 Metal Gear Saga for free. Metal Gear Solid Subsistance is selling for $29.99. If you were lucky enough to land a pre-order (or luckier to get it in a store), the Limited Edition sold for $39.99. The package includes a third disc, entitled "Existence", containing a 3.5 hour compilation disc of cutscenes (and re-edits) from MGS 3. That's a heck of a long Metal Gear Movie! Its become even harder to find, thanks to eBay gouging that has the Limited Edition going for over $120! This one is selling for $120+ on eBay. Good luck on finding a Limited Edition! At $10 more than the $30 version, don't even think about picking that sucker up!
