Nintendo is releasing a new Excitebike game for the Wii, based on the 1985 NES classic from Shigeru Miyamoto. Excitebike: World Rally is a WiiWare game from Nintendo, to be available from the Wii Shop on November 9th. The game was unveiled yesterday on the Wii's Nintendo Week show (10/26/09), which is viewable from the Nintendo Channel on the Wii. You can watch the trailer there, or see it below.

As you can see in the video, it has a very similar style to the original, but puts some more 3D into it. The original Excitebike NES game is available from the Wii Shop's Virtual Console for $5 (500 Wii Points). See more on the original here on wii.com.

Excitebike: World Rally will allow you to play using the Wii Remote's motion controls or using the Classic Controller. You'll also get to compete online in multiplayer races using the Wii's WiFi. Watch for Excitebike: World Rally this November on WiiWare.

Paranormal activity. EVPs. U/V light. Apparitions. These are all the kind of things that make a ghost hunter's spine tingle. Soon, you'll be able to do a bit of ghost hunting yourself in Ghostwire: Link to the Paranormal. It's a new DSi game from A Different Game, to be published by Majesco Entertainment. Ghostwire will keep you moving around and searching for ghosts in the augmented reality game. It blends your immediate surroundings with the game using the Nintendo DSi's cameras.

Watch a trailer from Ghostwire: Link to the Paranormal below for a preview on how gameplay will work.

Details from Majesco Entertainment:
"In Ghostwire: Link to the Paranormal, players are challenged to find and capture apparitions trapped within their own environment by using the Nintendo DSi™ Camera and ghost tuner to access alternative frequencies beyond the standard Wi-Fi range. Spirits, shadows and demons all have their own personalities, so finding and “solving” them is anything but easy. Some are shy. Some are evil. And some will only interact with you if you bring them something they want. What’s more, factors like time of day and light levels will further challenge your ghost hunting abilities, but a wide range of upgradeable equipment is available to help you communicate with the other side."

Visit the official Ghostwire: Link to the Paranormal website at www.ghostwiregame.com. Watch for Ghostwire: Link to the Paranormal to be available for the Nintendo DSi "in late 2010."

When players become “infected,” both their avatar and profile page will get grayed out and spattered with red blood and gore. Survivor avatars will display a glowing silver shield."

Infinite Bits convention brings playable history of game systems E-mail

This past weekend in Miami, the Infinite Bits inaugural videogame convention took place. The Infinite Bits convention is not your usual press event convention, but was more of a videogame fan service and an ode to videogame history.

Several events took place at the Infinite Bits event, such as the International Game Developers Association (IGDA) Level Design Contest, performances by bitcore bands such as Starscream, and many tournaments with prizes.

Some of the special guests who showed up were Billy Mitchell (all-time high score champion in Donkey Kong and Pac-Man), Walter Day (creator of the first videogame scoreboard, from Twin Galaxies) and Ben Heckendorn (a well known console modder within the gaming scene, from benheck.com).

Infinite Bits was more of a presentation on the influence and history of gaming. I saw game systems there that I never had seen before, some which were mere legend to me. It was a sight to see and I must say I had a great time. I will be there again next year!

Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space - review E-mail
Game Review Bits

Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space
Available for Xbox 360, PC
Developer: Telltale Games
Publisher: Telltale Games
Release Date (XBLA): October 14, 2009
Official website: www.telltalegames.com

Review Summary:
Although the episodes which comprise Sam and Max: Beyond Time and Space have been out for over a year on the PC, only recently have they come to the Xbox 360's Xbox LIVE Arcade. Knowing this still does not harm the game's overall luster. It is a fun game with the best character acting and art seen in a game by Telltale Games.

Rating: 4 out of 5
