After many delays in its U.S. release, Electroplankton has finally shipped for the Nintendo DS. Its a bold move for Nintendo to bring us this "interactive media experience." It doesn't seem like too many stores are sold on it yet, as it is only available for online purchase at this time. Places such as Best Buy, Target, Gamestop, EB Games and Walmart are selling Electroplankton online. Nintendo explains the media experience best here. If you love experimental games, electronic music and want some down time for your trigger finger, this is for you. I've ordered my copy so I will post more on it soon!
Sony is offering a pre-order bonus for the sequel to Untold Legends entitled Untold Legends: Warrior's Code. Not that PSP RPG fans needed much incentive for an RPG game that sounds promising! I'm ready for this one!
See the Gamestop offer here.
For you PC gamers, a downloadable demo of Star Wars Empire at War will soon be available. The Real Time Strategy (RTS) game is looking pretty killer. Remember wishing there was a RTS based Star Wars game like Command and Conquer back when that was on fire? Now an HD version for the 360 or PS3 would be killer, although RTS games seem to not fare to well on consoles.
The Final Fantasy XI Beta for the Xbox 360 is now available on newsstands in the February 2006 Official Xbox Magazine (OXM). Sign up with instructions we previously posted here. We'll be posting a follow up after we've tried it out!
Sega announced that a demo of Full Auto will be downloadable from the Xbox Live Marketplace on January 25, 2006. If you want to get your hands on it earlier, you will have to look for the Official Xbox Magazine (OXM) demo disc from January 2006 (disc #53).
There's been word circling of a deadly Dead or Alive 4 glitch that wipes your saves. Frustrating if you have unlocked that spanky new Halo Spartan 458 character. This appears to happen to a few random discs (hasn't happened to me). To avoid this happening to you, make sure to follow these precautionary steps:
Tecmo technical support says to do the following:
(1) With your copy of DOA4 already inserted, turn on your 360 by pressing the "open tray" button.
(2) Wait until all the information from your Gamer Profile is fully displayed on your Gamer Card, including achievements and other awards.
(3) Close the tray again with DOA4 still inserted.
If problems still occur, call Tecmo technical support at (310) 944-5005 (8 a.m.-6 p.m. PST) or e-mail them at
As a general rule of thumb (and trigger finger), seeing how something similar has happened to Call of Duty 2 (see our past story here), always boot up your Xbox 360 and have your gamer profile loaded before you launch your insert and launch your game. I'm paranoid enough that I think its time to buy an external memory card for backup!
Far Cry Instincts Predator, a sequel to Far Cry Insincts, is coming to the Xbox 360. Ubisoft will also be including the first installment along with the Xbox 360 release, so if you missed out, now you can give it a spin on the 360! Its looking like a Spring 2006 release. Read more from Prodigious Gaming here.
Gamebrink has posted some pretty cool comparison of the environment created in the Xbox 360 game Project Gotham Racing 3 to the real world photographic shots. I saw some shots of Brooklyn Bridge earlier that looked pretty spot on. Check it out!
See comparison here on Gamebrink.
Xbox, Playstation 2 and Gamecube game price drops hit hard at Toys R Us this weekend (see our previous post here) and analysts report the consoles are dropping next. Traditionally this happens around E3, The Electronic Entertainment Expo, in May. Word currently is that the Xbox may be reduced to $99 and the Playstation 2 may be reduced to $130. Gamecube most likely will as well, coming in at the lowest of the three (anyone think $79??)
Growing trend already? Condemned: Criminal Origins is going to get a sequel and a movie (just as report earlier this morning for Kameo). The movie will take place in the Condemened universe (so may not tie in as much to plot in current game). Sequels and movies are running off Xbox 360 launch titles so quick! Well, that's if they weren't a sequel already!
