An update on Bungie.net's site reveals little bits of info on Halo 3 and ends the rumor of OXM's screenshot from the Halo 3 trailer in which Master Chief's face shows through his visor.
There will be some tweaks to the controls on Halo 3, so Halo 2 buffs may need to learn some new tricks. However, there will be a controller option to go back to Halo 2's familiar feel. Not sure which will be the advantage. We'll have to wait to get our butts kicked online. AI Gunner controls on the Warthog sound to be working very well. Almost too well. From the posting: "The AI still has ages of tuning left to go, and the bad news is that if your AI gunner is too good, he’ll be dumbed-down to make the game more balanced. That said, the scale and ferocity of the current encounters (read: more bad guys than ever before) mean that you were going to need more capable AI anyway." In response to OXM's screenshot (can be seen online here) from the Halo 3 trailer (on page 90 of the October 2006 mag), "Master Chief's Face Revealed?": "It’s not a hoax, but the image shown in OXM, if you look carefully, is actually a realtime reflection of the vortex. The angle they capture it at makes it look like (to me at least) a glowing eye and even part of a nose. The “scar” is a crack in the ground. What they show is a coincidence, although, you never know what’s going to happen in the final game. In their story, we’re quoted as saying “no comment.” If we’d seen the image beforehand, we’d have been more definitive." Read all the bits on Bungie.net here.
