The Entertainment Software Association (ESA), organizers of the yearly E3 Expo, have renamed the gaming event to the "E3 Media and Business Summit." The event has moved from the LA Convention Center to Santa Monica, California, with the main meetups to be held in the Barker Hangar in Santa Monica Airport. The E3 Media and Business Summit will take place during July 11 to 13, 2007, a couple months later than the month of May when the E3 Expo was held.
From Douglas Lowenstein, President of ESA: "The new E3 is first and foremost about getting business done. When we asked key audiences what they wanted in the new event, we heard that they wanted opportunities for high-level meetings in a business-like setting, to play games, network, and socialize, to see major company offerings while also preserving the sense of discovery that is so much a part of E3, and to hear substantive presentations on the most important issues and trends facing the industry." Expect a scaled down, and a bit more intimate, gaming showcase event. Up to last May's event, companies that provided credentials of relation to the gaming industry were admitted. The 2007 will be by invitation only.
