Gamers eager to pickup a copy of Gears of War since Tuesday's shipment announcement are likely to be feeling more of an "Emergence Week" instead of an "Emergence Day."
"If you're here for Gears of War, go to the right," yelled a Best Buy employee as he formed up a group of about twenty customers who showed up on the opening hours of the store on Wednesday. The employee, sounding more like a drill sergeant at this point, addresses the group: "We have not received the shipment we were anticipating as of yet. Come back later or call the store to see when it has arrived." Dismissed! A disappointment it was to the eager Gearheads. Customers who pre-ordered from GameStop/EB Games who received a call Tuesday night that their pre-order was coming in may have also received a disappointing follow-up message. On Wednesday an automated message was delivered that advised customers to call their local store before attempting to pick up Gears of War, as shipping problems may have caused a delay. Some gamers even posted on the Xbox.com forums that their pre-order had been sold to other customers. Typically when a game is released, a date is announced to give everyone an equal opportunity to sell or buy a game, as stores hold their inventory in the stock rooms. Microsoft may just have been just as eager to sell Gears of War as gamers have been eager to get it, allowing Gears of War to be sold as retailers received the shipments. So if you haven't picked up Gears of War, don't give up as today will likely be more promising! Let us know how your experience in getting Gears of War went for you!
