If you are hunting down a PS3, you may want to employ the "Playstation Finder" to help you track one down. Playstation Finder is a tool that claims to be "the fastest purpose-built Playstation 3 stock locator on the internet." Pay a one time $6.50 fee (through Paypal.com) and you will be notified when an online retailer has PS3s in stock. Retailers they mention being on their radars include Best Buy, Circuit City, EB Games/GameStop, Amazon.com and other "usual suspects."

From Playstationfinder.com: "Our systems, spread across the globe, frequently check the stock status of Playstation 3 units and bundles at both U.S. and Canada-based online stores. The moment a unit or bundle switches from 'Out of stock' to 'in stock', we know within seconds, and our system generates email alerts to all of our subscribers, which are sent out with extreme speed, as our system processes between 500-1000 alerts per second. You will receive an email with a link -directly- to the item in the online store."

If you want to try another option, check out ps3preorders.com, although you are likely to see most listings that are "available" are on ebay.com and overstock.com. Both of those are auction sites with PS3 price gouging.
