Sony's PS3 has a "Remote Play" feature, which allows you to use a Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) to wirelessly access videos, photos and music stored on a PS3. Documentation on exactly how do that is nowhere to be found in the PS3's instructions and hooking both to each other isn't exactly user friendly.
Here's a video that will walk you through on how to setup your PSP to access files on your PS3 (and view the PS3's XMB interface), or for those of you who are curious to see how that works, you can see it here. There are plans to allow the PSP to send videos and pictures, using the PSP's soon to be released USB camera add-on, remotely through the 'net. Check out the video below to see how it works.

Remote play works Written by Guest on 2008-04-12 19:19:21 I must be the 2% that don't have problems. I have a first release PS3 and a PSP slim. Firmware ver. 2.20 and 3.95. Using static address for both PS3 and PSP, but necessary for the PSP and a Router DFL300 with no UPnP option along with an AP WRT54gs. The DFL needs a service added for port forwarding 3478-3479 UDP and 9293 TCP forwarded to the PS3 IP. Router needs to be setup first. PSP will need to be re-sync with the PS3 after the ports are add/changed. WRT54gs is only being used as a wireless AP in my case. It is connected to a main switch, which is then connected to the DFL Router. I can wake via internet through Sony network either it be home or away. I think the key here is that once you make the changes on the router that you use, you must re-sync the PSP via USB to the PS3. Hope this helps someone!

i have a 40gb version , the cheapest , i have fitted a 200gb hard drive for £60, IT HAS WIRELESS ,IT can do remote play.
I have it hard wired to a router and can access media servers on my 2 pc's and 2 wireless laptops which use xp and vista.
PSP internet works perfectly and very quickly, remote play is awesome, i have access to over 1TB of data at any wifi point, at work, at the airport , coffee shop on holiday the other side of the world - amazing.
I had no problems setting up just followd on screen instructions.
The only thing that confused me slightly was when i could turn it on via private network using the direct connections to the PS3 but not from the router or internet.
There is a check box in teh remote turn on options that enables internet power up.
well worth £90 to be able to use the media side of your PS3 anywhere in the world.
most impressive use of technology i have seen in a long time, and fo rthose that say its poor quality they should probably look at their net connection, if people dont understand teh specs and workings of the ps3 they probably dont know what m,akes a good internet connection either

You need to Turn you PSP wireless on, but make sure you have registered it with the PS3 before you attempt to connect Remote Play. But the PSP can not connect to the internet full stop, not for web browser or for "internet remote play".
I just bought the PSP for this purpose only and i'm so very annoyed about it. I don't like wasting money, if i did i would have bought a 360.
Sony has but a limited time to fix this and all the other little but painfully annoying problems, unless they want a PS3 shaped brick in their windows for easter.
