With the Sony PSP closing on nearly two years since its debut, the time may be nearing for an upgrade. The little Sony portable with the big screen had much potential in the beginning, but the UMD movie format ultimately suffered this year. Gamers have sat along the sidelines of the PSP in hopes that an internal hard drive would ease watching movies on the portable.

Engadget reports that the announcement of a new Samsung hard drive could be the foretelling of an upgraded Sony PSP in the near future. From Engadget: "Samsung introduced its new N-Series line of 1.8-inch hard drives today and there's some indication that a 60GB version of the drive may end up in a future PSP."

We'll keep a lookout and let you know what is to come. More should follow after the upcoming Consumer Electonics Show (CES).

Damn! They are getting to close to making a perfect portable, now they just need to upgrade firmware so it's easier to watch movies. Perhaps a video reader that reads more formats of movies like .mpg .avi.
