Ryan Treit at xbox.com has some tips on unlocking achievements for popular Xbox 360 titles such as Gears of War, Viva Piņata, Rainbow Six Vegas, Splinter Cell Double Agent and Phantasy Star Universe. Some of the achievements can be added to your gamerscore without too much trouble. As Ryan says: "You can spend a dozen hours in pursuit of a ten point achievement in one game while surprising yourself with a fifty point achievement in another game in just minutes."
Several achievements that Ryan mentions that can be unlocked fairly quickly include:
Viva Piņata:
Employment: Unlock a new achievement every time you hire a new kind of employee, such as Sprinkling.
Rainbow Six Vegas:
For speedy achievement results, concentrate your cooperative efforts on the Terrorist Hunt missions first and the cooperative campaign second. Be sure to set the time limit to infinite when setting up a Terrorist Hunt match.
Splinter Cell Double Agent:
If you're not going to play through the game on the most challenging difficulty, do yourself a favor and play through on Easy. None of the achievements for completing levels require a particular difficulty setting, so you can tear through the game in a hurry.
A couple of tips I'd point out with these games:
Rainbow Six Vegas:
By far one of the easiest achievements, but requiring the Live Vision camera, is the Rainbow Six "True Identity" achievement, worth 30 points. Customize your online character with your mug in 2 easy snapshots of your head. If your buddies don't have the cam, lend yours so you'll be able to see them online and donate 30 gamerscore points to 'em.
Gears of War:
Forget the Hardcore difficulty setting Ryan mentions and go for the gold. Go for the Insane Difficulty to unlock the Hardcore and Insane achievements at the same time. The Insane difficulty presents a challenge, but its not as "insane" as you may think. Plus you'll get a gamer pic of Marcus Fenix as a bonus. Bring along a friend to ease the pain and rackup more gamescore points while playing as Dom.

i got a bunch of achievments in about 3hours 1000 point in nba2k6 and another easy 1000 points in madden nfl 06 people tend to forget about the older games the upper classmen if u will and this brings me to our freshman one might say NCAA collage footba | Gamertaf: VynSint

one of the easier games to get achievements on is TMNT. I finished it in one night and got the full 1000 gamerscore points. Plus, it's still a pretty fun game at times. | lots
