EA will be publishing Pandemic's Studios' Mercenaries 2: World In Flames. The sandbox-bounty-hunting action game is scheduled for a 2007 release on the Playstation 3.
"We're thrilled to partner with Pandemic Studios and to be working together to make Mercenaries 2: World in Flames a global blockbuster," said EA's David DeMartini. "EA Partners is committed to providing the world's best development studios with access to EA's unrivaled global publishing resources, helping gamemakers reach the widest possible audience." A summary of the game from Pandemic's press release: "You are not a soldier. You don't have to play by anyone's rules. You have your own code: fulfill the terms of the contract, no matter what. Not everyone in the world of Mercenaries is as honorable – everyone will try and screw you, given the chance. They think they can get away with it, because they don't know rule #1: EVERYBODY PAYS." The original release made it to the PS2 and Xbox consoles and provided a nice open-ended sandbox game without the typical urban settings found in the genre. Although the game may currently only be announced for the PS3 consoles, rumors abound say it's coming to the Xbox 360 as well.
