Are you ready to rumble? Immersion has announced that litigation with Sony Computer Entertainment has ended and things can get back to business in putting rumble controls on the PS3. After much back and forth lawsuits between Sony and Immersion, PS3 gamers were the ones to lose out on force feedback on the PS3 controller. It's great news to hear that after Immersion's multiple attempts to settle things, the dust can now settle and PS3 gamers can soon have "advanced vibration capability."
"We are pleased to have put this litigation behind us," said Immersion CEO Victor Viegas. "Our new business agreement with Sony Computer Entertainment is specifically intended to enable advanced vibration capability for the benefit of the PlayStation gaming community. We are happy to provide our technology in this regard and hope to make technical proposals very soon with respect to use of our technology in the PlayStation products." How that rumble is going to debut on the PS3 has yet to be seen. What will happen with all the SIXAXISes out there? Any chance of Sony's Phil Harrison standing in the way of rumble, after stating "rumble I think was the last generation feature"? Read more on what this means for Immersion as well, from the Associated Press. Read the full press release below.
