In a fit of "WTFs" as to where the baby PS3s have gone, Alex from GameDrift has embarked on a personal quest to find the 20 gig console at a local retailer. After a few phone calls, he discovered the following.
"I stumbled upon a piece of information that was quite shocking. It seems that one of the nation’s larger consumer electronics stores were listing the smaller console as “Discontinued” in their inventory system. That’s right; discontinued." Because Sony claims that the smaller console is still in production, this is still just a rumor. But working retail myself long ago, if it comes up as "discontinued" in the store's system, it usually is. The read the full report here.
