Dragon’s Lair is a staple in the release of new disc-based players or consoles. What better time to re-release it than now in the high-definition era of discs? The classic 1983 laserdisc video arcade game has been restored to be experienced at 1080p on Blu-Ray disc players. Dragon’s Lair is "the first release to be authored in the Blu-ray Java environment, or BD-J" and has been restored frame by frame.
According to the original creator and former Disney animator Don Bluth, "I’ve seen the newly restored footage and it just looks amazing. It looks even better than I can remember. The visuals, the 5.1 surround sound audio, all I can say is ‘Wow!’ " We'll be bringing you impressions on what Dragon's Lair looks like in 1080p and how it feels nearly 25 years since its original release. Dragon’s Lair continues to revolutionize the video-game industry by becoming the first game title ever to be released for the Blu-ray* Disc High Definition format using BD-J. An instant hit in its 1983 arcade debut, Dragon’s Lair has now been digitally restored and enhanced with an all-new 5.1 surround sound mix. The video has been transferred directly from the original film and cleaned frame by frame by Digital Leisure and authoring studio Infinite HD, creating a truly vibrant image.
