We received quite a bit of feedback on Joytech's upcoming Wii Sharp Shooter accessory for the Wii Remote and Nunchuk, so here's a follow up to some questions and the most solid detail we have to date on it.
Joytech's Alex V. responds on the compatibility of the Sharp Shooter with some of the Wii's FPS games: "[Joytech's Sharp Shooter] will be compatible with the vast majority of Wii FPS (It works GREAT with Call of Duty 3) and of course with Wii Duck Hunt and forthcoming light gun based games. It really is a great piece of kit and adds a new dimension to FPS games. We think you'll like a lot!" Alex continues, "It's true that for certain FPS type games, the gamer will be required to quickly remove the nunchuck for certain areas and on some games the Sharp Shooter will not prove suitable. However, JOYTECH do not claim that the Sharp Shooter will be effective for ALL Wii games. Instead we maintain that the vast majority of FPS games are brought to life via the Sharp Shooter and that the peripheral is a must for fans of shooters everywhere!" In response to the question as to whether the Sharp Shooter will have a cocking mechanism: "The Sharp Shooter does not have a cocking mechanism as such however the Sharp Shooter allows full access to all buttons on the Wii remote and Nunchuck at all times." In regards to pricing, nothing has been confirmed as of yet, however Alex stated "we predict that it will be very reasonable." The Wii Sharp Shooter is tentatively scheduled for an early Summer 2007 release in the US. Thanks Alex! See a few more close-up images of the Wii Sharp Shooter below. See it at JoyTech's web site.
