- Support for Playstation Network titles has been expanded.
- The method of managing certificates under [Game] has changed.
So looks like this may relate to the ability to play PSone games on your PSP/PS3 and authentication of licenses.
When you start one of the PS1 downloaded games on your Playstation Portable, you will get the following message:
"To start this game, you must convert saved data for the game to a new format. The converted saved data will no longer be recognized by PSP systems using system software version 3.30 or earlier. Do you want to convert the saved data to a new format now? [Yes] [No]" Upon answering, it will take a couple of seconds and you will go to the PS1 game.
We'll let you know soon on the ability to play PS1 games downloaded from the Playstation Network on the PS3 and use the save data on both the PSP and PS3!

The PSP came out when the ipod photo/video/color was out so it would be irrelevant to compare the very first generations. Compare it to the ipod of which generation it matched when it came out. 2001 was a different age of technology, so of course it would kill the first ipod. the psp came in 2004, the first ipod in 2001. Thats an unequal and unfair comparison. |

I love my PSP and I love my iPod but I feel some corrections are required in a previous post.

Let's get our facts straight, the iPod is in its 5th generation and the 1st generation was released in October of 2001, if you want to compare the PSP released in March of 2005 to the iPod available at the PSP's launch then your comparing to the iPod Photo, the only comparison between the two would be photo viewing and audio playback, which the iPod with 30gb of storage is clearly is the victor over the PSP with a sandisk 4gb memory stick which was released in Feburary of that same year. From March to October of 2005 the PSP had video and the iPod did not; making the PSP the killer product in the video category, in that respect you are correct in your opinion. Now in your comment you compare a product released in 2001 (even then iPods had 5gb and 10gb storage) to a product released in 2005. Sony was still pushing Minidisc players in 2001 so if you want to compare 1st generation products please make sure you compare 1st generation products released in the same year. Need I say more?
If sony wasn't so proprietary on its products and unlocked the PSP's full potential in the video category then yes I do believe it could give the iPod a run for its money. And I for one would rather watch my mp4 collection on the PSP's screen but even after the update 3.40 they still kept the MPEG4 profile gimped not to mention the damned thing still doesnt have a dedicated video output port!

So the PSP is capable of BETTER sound quality than an iPod???... How so??? Quality is user controlled... Sony does not have any exclusivity to sound quality. They do make an awesome gaming system however. |
