Wii production is finally ramping up and there may soon be a day when they are readily available at store shelves. Increased production of the Nintendo Wii will mean more will be around in May 2007. Nintendo recently announced that it has "sold 5.84 million of its new Wii home video game systems globally." Nintendo's projections for the fiscal year beginning April 1, 2007 are 14 million Wii systems and 55 million games to be sold worldwide.

"We must do our best to fix this abnormal lack of stock," Nintendo President Satoru Iwata told reporters. "We have not been able to properly foresee demand."

If you are looking for a Wii this weekend, GameStop will have some Wiis in stock, but expect 'em to go quick. From the Associated Press.
