Sony PSP Video Camera Announced: Go!Cam Details and Pictures

Hot on the heels of the PS3's PlayStation Eye comes the announcement of a camera for the Sony PSP. Today, Sony Computer Entertainment Europe (SCEE) announced an attachable video camera for the Sony Playstation Portable, the Go!Cam.
Using a 4 Gig Memory Stick PRO Duo, up to 2.5 hours of video can be recorded or 40,000 photos can be taken. The camera lens swivels vertically 180 degrees. Included with the camera is Go!Edit for editing recorded photos, video and audio. You'll also be able to upload your captured media via the PSP's wireless internet connection.
The Go!Cam has been announced for a May 16, 2007 release across Europe and the PAL territories with a retail price of of €49.99 (about $70 USD). The US release date and pricing will likely be announced very soon. We'll post an update here with the release date and pricing in the US.
UPDATE 5/3/07: We received the following response from Sony's US PlayStation Portable PR Manager: "We don't have an update on any PSP camera peripheral for the U.S. at this point, but we're always evaluating opportunities to expand the features of the PSP." So as it appears right now, there's no tentative release date fo the Go!Cam in the US. We'll keep you updated.

To be released on 16th May 2007 across Europe and the PAL territories, Go!Cam promises to bring the creativity of film, photos and the fun of PSP together to create a camera for all ages and all occasions. With a retail price of €49.99 (£34.99), Go!Cam is yet another example of how PSP is a mobile entertainment system with no limits.
With up to two and half hours video recording time and the ability to take and store over 40,000 photos*, Go!Cam seamlessly converts PSP to a portable, functional and fun camera.
Go!Cam offers a built in microphone to ensure continuous audio, the ability to change the direction of the camera lens vertically by 180 degrees and Go!Edit, an editing software package which allows users to save and edit photos, video and audio clips.

Go!Edit software
Go!Edit editing software, bundled free with Go!Cam allows you to transform your PSP into a portable editing suite, letting you edit on the move. Go!Edit also allows the option to upload creations onto the internet directly from the PSP, meaning that nothing need stand in your way to share your masterpiece with the world.

yah sure Written by Guest on 2007-06-02 22:20:41mabey people arent reading what that guy said about why its 1.3 mp.....if it was any more it would cause choppy video durring live transmissions when useing it as a webcam...try to do a live stream of a 6mp or even 3-4mp on a psp with its already choppy video playback rate...good luck ever putting anything above 2mp on it anyways...i say be happy they even made one at all..i will be buying one as soon as i figure out how to use it on a usa psp..i think when u mod it it also allows it to run in a pal invironment..if not ill wait till it comes to the usa and i doubt it will take much longer

If you want a pure breed gaming hand held then go buy a DS. If you want a hand held that can play games, music, movies, and now take pictures.. You get the point.
