Bungie has decided to whet our Halo 3 appetites with more information regarding the sound design. A recently posted article explains what goes into the creation of the sound for the single player campaign, and also delves into what stage of progress the campaign is in. Heres a taste: "Bungie’s Audio Lead Jay Weinland has been opening the same door for the last hour. He wants it to creak like a door that hasn’t opened for hundreds of years, yet the creaking sound can’t overwhelm the sound of metal grinding on metal either. “I’m just about finished with the first pass on this level,” he says, opening the door again. In later audio passes, placeholder sounds evaporate and real ambient effects emerge – birds chirping in the background, the soft murmur of streams, the wind stirring through trees and foliage."
