Rumors that the Resident Evil 4 Wii release may be toned down sprouted from a posting at Next-gen.biz on the Japanese release of the game. For a second we thought the green/grey blooded days of Nintendo were back.
We contacted Alicia K., a PR representative from Capcom, to clear up the rumored toned down release of Resident Evil 4 for Wii. "RE 4 Wii Edition content in Japan is based on their previous releases," said Alicia, "the US version content will be similar to previous releases here (not talking about any of the Wii Edition functions with the controls of course, just about gameplay content)." So US gamers can expect the graphical gore that was previously delivered on the GameCube and PS2 releases. Game releases in Japan may censor dismembering, which is evident in the recently released PS3 Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo. If you downloaded the Japanese Ninja Gaiden Sigma demo, you'll see no decapitations from Ryu's wall running, downward slice move seen in the US demo.
Resident Evil 4 will be available for the Nintendo Wii for $29.99
