The Playstation 3 is set to get a $100 price break soon. GameDaily BIZ received confirmation from retailers that the PS3 will drop from $599 to $499. GameDaiy received the information from "a merchandising manager (who wished to remain anonymous) at one of the world's biggest retailers." The price cut is set to begin July 12, with advertised specials showing up on ad circulars on July 15th.
Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has not made an official announcement, but the announcement will surely come at next week's E3 Business Summit. The $499 pricepoint places HD movie entertainment lower on the PS3 (on Blu-ray) than on the Xbox 360 (on HD-DVD). From GameDaily.
