The Playstation 3's SIXAXIS controller will be getting the much missed rumble feature soon. After Sony entered a business agreement with Immersion in March 2007, development on the SIXAXIS rumble feature has been ongoing. Sony is expected to show more at E3 next week, but a report from PSM France reported enhanced rumble capability through "TouchSense."
It's currently unclear on how this will change the rumble experience from the previous PS2's DualShock controller. The rumble hardware was located on the grips of the PS2 controller. The TouchSense technology would distribute the vibration sensation throughout the PS3's SIXAXIS, and will be compatible with previous PS3 titles. Immersion has previously documented the TouchSense technology for next-gen consoles. Just how different the TouchSense will be on the PS3 SIXAXIS to the Xbox 360 controller's TouchSense remains to be felt. From PS3Fanboy.
