Microsoft Responds To PS3 Price Drop; PS3 Jumps To #1 on Amazon.com's Video Game Bestseller List PDF Print E-mail

Microsoft issued a response to today's Playstation 3 price drop.

IGN received the following comment from a Microsoft representative on the PS3 price cut: ""We're not surprised by Sony's reaction to the market," a Microsoft representative told us. "We'll see if it makes a difference. It's interesting to note that they've significantly dropped their price in the first eight months while Xbox 360 has continued to sell well at our launch price for more than a year and a half. We're right where we want to be right now -- it's all about choice and bringing the best games and entertainment to homes around the world.""

If Amazon.com's Daily Video Game Best Seller list is any indication of what is to come, it looks like the PS3 price cut may make a difference. The Wii actually dropped to Amazon.com's #2 spot today, with the $499 60 GB Playstation 3 overtaking the #1 spot. The question is, how long will it hold the number one spot?

And this is with the PS3 selling for twice the price of the Wii.

No hardware compatibility with PS2 & PSX make it a poor choice. They should not have gimped the hardware as the software emulation doesnt work properly. They need to keep the emotion chip and get the cost of the 60GB version down to $399

Just wait until Microsoft announces that the 360 Elite is discounted $80 to a selling price of $399. I guarantee that the 360 will leap-frog both the PS3 and the Wii.

Well, with the Wii still being sold out across the world; is it really that big of a shock that it is in the #2 slot. Its not like everone that wanted a Wii said "Wow, I want a PS3 because it dropped $100". Once we get past the initial week or two a
