Yesterday at Microsoft's E3 Press Event, Gears of War was announced for release on the PC. Gears of War will debut on the PC in Holiday 2007 for $49.99.

Features announced on the PC release of Gears of War, currently not available on the Xbox 360 release:

- Three new multiplayer maps
- Brumak Boss Battle (see PC screenshot below)
- A new multiplayer game type
- A Game Editor
- Five new campaign chapters
- DirectX 10 support

Matchmaking, player statistics, Achievements, customized games and personalized profiles will also be in the PC version, as it is in the Xbox 360.

A notable feature of the PC release of Gears of War is the Game Editor. Players will be able to "import custom artwork into the engine, create particle systems, scripted encounters, cinematics and more."

No announcement has been made as of yet if any of the additional PC features will be available as downloadable content for the Xbox 360. The chance of the Game Editor making it on the 360 may be pretty slim.
