For the little that's been shown of Resident Evil 5, there's been a lot of anticipation. It has high expectations of course, to follow the success of the last Resident Evil 4 (which had its third release recently on the Wii). Details that spread among the web from Famitsu give us a bit more of what Resident Evil 5 will be about.

- Takes place 10 years after first Resident Evil ("Mansion Incident" which was in July 1998*)
- Former S.T.A.R.S. member Chris Redfield shown in trailer video, now part of "BSAA"
- Enemies are not zombies or Resident Evil 4's "Los Ganados"
- A female character will play a key role (a common element in the Resident Evil series)
- High dynamic range lighting will cause moments of 'blindness" while the character's eyes adjust from entering bright areas to dark.
- Release date may be sometime between 2008-2010 for the Xbox 360 and PS3

"What has happened to Chris during these 10 years? By showing his past, we can begin to unravel things that were not resolved in Resident Evil 4. In fact, Resident Evil 5 will retain most of its gameplay style [from Resident Evil 4] with some new features which I cannot talk about yet at this point.," said Resident Evil 5's Producer Jun Takeuchi, "One of the main theme in this game is that Chris is fighting for a cause that is not really clear. Is he fighting for good or evil?"

Capcom has opened a forum (here) to submit questions to Resident Evil 5's Producer Jun Takeuchi. Questions will be taken until July 25th. Takeuchi's replies will be posted around July 30th.
