Laser Tag, Halo's Covenant Style PDF Print E-mail

Halo Laser Pursuit is a laser tag game, or Halo replica weapons if you prefer, being produced by Jasman Toys. Prototypes were shown at Comic-Con in San Diego this past week. A posting at Bungie's weekly update reveals how they are looking.

When asked why the Covenant Plasma Rifle and Pistol were not to scale, a rep from Jasman Toys responded: "We originally made them at the correct scale, but they were huge! The Master Chief is something like 7 feet tall and when you held the weapons at that scale they were way too big. We scaled them down slightly so that they work for an average sized adult."

So why no UNSC gear? Because of the UNSC's more "human" weapon designs, Master Chief's gear would have to go bright orange or bright green to avoid posing as a real weapon. Jasman Toys would like to keep the Halo weapons faithful to the games.

From ActionFigureInsider.com: "Made from metal and plastic materials, the weapons are heavy, full-size replicas that will also function like their console-based counterparts. Vibrations, sounds, lights and recoil offer the most realistic experience possible. Even more intricate features are included; for example, when the Plasma Rifle “overheats,” the heat exchange flanges pop open from the side."

The Covenant Plasma Rifle ($119.99) and Pistol ($79.99) will be available at retailers starting October 2007. A Covenant Energy Sword will follow in 2008. Now if we could get a Nerf Needler...

I am 15 years old and I have many friends my age and younger who are just as fanatic about Halo as I am. We don't have that kind of money to spend on these amazingly realistic replicas, maybe some plastic models should be produced for younger people su
