Here's the proof that the upcoming PSP-2000 (aka PSP Lite) will be supporting video output, via component or composite cables. These two packs will be available for purchase seperately from the new PSP model, which will be available starting September 12.
From SCEA's press release on the PSP-2000 video output functionality: "Adding a video-out port enables new PSP users to experience high quality UMD (Universal Media Disc) Video, pictures and movies from Memory Stick Duo and game software titles on their TVs at home."
Besides the AV cables, a shot of the new PSP headset design is below. While the earpiece looks similar to what was released with the PSP-1000 model, the controller for the volume and playback is looking a bit slimmer itself.
The new PSP-2000 is 33% lighter and 19% slimmer, features faster loading time with an enhanced UMD loading feature, can be recharged when connected to a PS3 or PC via USB and will be available in a variety of colors (piano black, ceramic white (with a Darth Vader noggin!), ice silver). Core models will run for $169.99, while bundled models (Daxter/Starwars Star Wars Battlefront entertainment packs) will go for $199.99.

psp slims are awesome Written by Guest on 2008-02-26 19:47:37 the only thing that frustrated me was the headset situation. not only do you need to buy a headset but you HAVE to buy a remote witch is even more expensive than the headset itself. oh yea, sony needs to hurry up and release their AV cables in America so i can use the video output like i wouldve done like 4months ago if they had released them | cee Written by Guest on 2008-02-11 05:30:17 hi there! can you tell me on where can I purchase this new psp2000 headset online? | Worth it??? Written by Guest on 2007-10-09 19:02:21 have you ever played the psp at home, waiting for an improvement on enlarging the little, tini, tiny screen, well it's about time for an UPGRADE!!! | PSP Written by Guest on 2007-09-18 08:04:35 i ave the new psp slim and lite and the old psp i can say that even if you have the original psp, this is still an investment. The new video out interface was reason enough for me fork out 130 quid for the new psp, but in your hands is where the difference is. Its so comfy to play on, i could play on it for hours and not get the same strain I got from the old psp. The d pad is also vastly improved as are the buttons in general. If you use the umd cache aswell your games will load faster, ok, may notb lightning fast but its a welcome improvement, especially if you play fast and the furious. Loading times are ridiculous so the cache is very welcome to me. So...all in all the psp slim is what the psp should have been the first time round and yes, I admit the upgrades aren't massive, but well worth buying again. In adition, early 2008, Sony are releasing new firmware that includes the new keyboard and PSP messenger that may not be compatible with the old psp so even for tht...its worth it. Enjoy. | Rip off....maybe? Written by Guest on 2007-09-08 13:08:26 What is the main component thought that is denying us regular PSP owners access to the Video Out feature? Is this something that is tied into the motherboard tech or is simply a firmware introduction that allows signal transfer via the PSP's headpone jack? If that's the case, what the hell is the point of a new PSP? | PSP is better than DS Written by Guest on 2007-09-02 10:51:38 I don't have a psp,but was going to get one,but Sony announce the slim version so I pre ordered it from amazon.I've play my friends DSs and they're not fun at all!The psp has 4X the features, and Daxter pack has everything you need for $200 except for a the media manger for $30 and a case for $10 which = 240,and the Ds with a game is $150,but the psp is worth it. | PSP Slim...Rip Off? Written by Guest on 2007-09-01 22:37:23 the answere to that question is simply no! I've heard every complaint about this new psp. How "sony is screwing us who already have a psp" or "that this doesnt have enough changes to it". All you babys saying that, STOP crying. Sony is not aiming at us who have a psp right now (like me). There aiming at people who dont have one. There glad we own the psp's we have already. I think they changed just enough to get the market there looking for. Who can resist that video out-put? I cant, in fact i might buy a new one. And also, for all you who complain about them not changing enough.....LOOK AT NINTENDO!!!! DS lite?! they changed nothing! the made it smaller, liter, and the screen brighter....BORING! at least sony added something to it, and its a great idea. the video out is going to grab people and say, "I am a media center, carry me anywhere and do anything with me!" DS has nothing to say except, "you can poke me...isnt that cool?" no thats for gay people. so ya, thats the down low on this new psp. |
