Sounds like it'll be quite a feat to reproduce the original laser-disc arcade game on Nintendo's handheld platform. The game's developers, United Coders, are bringing some unique gameplay elements to the DS version. The "1983 Arcade Mode" will be faithful to the original arcade release, marking the first time Dragon's Lair can be played in its original form on a handheld gaming system. The "Director's Cut" mode is what incorporates the DS features. The DS Rumble Pak, Stylus and even Voice Recognition will be supported. Specifics on how those features will be used in the game are yet to be revealed. The Director's Cut mode will have its own original gameplay, different from the 1983 version. In addition to the original Dragon's Lair, development of DS versions of Space Ace and Dragon’s Lair II: Time Warp are in the works. Dragon's Lair will be coming to the Nintendo DS in early 2008.
