Nyko has announced the availability of the Wii Intercooler for $14.99. Nyko's known for it's console cooling fans. The Xbox 360 Intercooler, which at one time was thought to be the champion defender of the Red Ring of Death, was later the cause of controversy with the pass-through power adapter pins getting burned. Nyko's Playstation 3 Intercooler is also available, which provides fans on the top and back of the console as well as a variable fan rate. The problem with the PS3 Intercooler was the annoying loud hum of all those fans running. It's questionable if you really needed it for the PS3, which would be the same doubts we'd be having on the Wii Intercooler. With the Wii Intercooler, the power runs through the back USB port.
From Nyko: "A pass through power connection utilizes the existing Wii power adaptor negating the need for an extra AC adaptor or wires. Patent pending technology allows the unit to power on and off automatically with the Wii." Unless your Wii is crammed into a very tight shelf area, you probably won't need the fan add-on. I haven't heard of issues of the Wii overheating. Nyko's Wii Intercooler is available directly from Nyko here.
