Guitar Hero 3 Playable Demo Hits Xbox Live Marketplace; Tracks Available From iTunes and Interscope PDF Print E-mail

A playable demo for next week's release of Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock is now available for download from the Xbox 360 Marketplace. The demo download is about 545 MB. Included in the GHIII demo is a training mode, local multiplayer mode, and solo "quickplay" mode featuring four levels of difficulty (easy, medium, hard and expert). There are 5 playable tracks in the demo, which include "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" (Pat Benatar), "Lay Down" (Priestess), "Even Flow" (Pearl Jam), "Rock You Like A Hurricane" (Scorpions) and "The Metal" (Tenacious D).

Activision also announced the availability of Guitar Hero music tracks through the iTunes Essentials collections. The collections of music features tracks from Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. Launch the Guitar Hero iTunes Essentials here.

Finally, there's even more Guitar Hero goods from Interscope Records with the release of the Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock Companion Pack. There are 3 exclusive Xbox 360 tracks you'll be able to get from the soundtrack CD, using a code on the Xbox Live Marketplace. The three Xbox 360 tracks include "Carcinogen Crush" from AFI (from an EP due in December), "Tina" from Flyleaf and a remix of Marilyn Manson's "Putting Holes In Happiness" by Nick Zinner from the Yeah Yeah Yeahs.

Guitar Hero(R) Essentials Now Available on iTunes

Collect More Than 1300 Must-Have Guitar Anthems into 20 Essentials

SUNNYVALE, Calif., Oct 23, 2007 (BUSINESS WIRE) -- Activision, Inc. (Nasdaq:ATVI) announced that starting today a series of compilations featuring music from the hit franchise Guitar Hero(R) will be available for purchase and download on the iTunes Store (www.itunes.com)(1). The tracks will be featured in iTunes Essentials for Guitar Hero, Guitar Hero II, Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks the 80s and Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock.

From "Surrender" to "Welcome to the Jungle," to "Carry On Wayward Son," nearly every song to appear in the Guitar Hero franchise has been gathered(1). A newly recorded version of "Anarchy in the U.K." which the Sex Pistols recently recorded for Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock, is also available as a separate track. The series also includes Artist and Genre Essentials custom-created especially for guitar fans. Titles include Shredders, Live Guitar Heroics, Killer Guitar Solos and Guitar Anthems of the '80s with tracks from Aerosmith, Guns 'N' Roses, Rage Against the Machine, Metallica, the Rolling Stones, Jimi Hendrix and Pearl Jam. Additionally, iTunes will be offering guitar-themed playlists from guitar legends Steve Jones of The Sex Pistols and Slash of Guns 'N' Roses and Velvet Revolver so fans can download the legends' favorite anthems.

I didn't even realize this existed. I've been listening to the Guitar Hero 3 song list while I could have been playing the demo!
