Square Enix and Sony Computer Entertainment, Inc. (SCEI) will be releasing a limited edition PSP Slim for the launch of Star Ocean on the PSP platform. The bundle includes the Star Ocean Limited PSP (light blue), featuring a custom design with "Star Ocean Limited" noted on the back, a silvery PSP tote with Star Ocean logo and Star Ocean: First Departure PSP game. The bundle will be available in Japan in the end of December 2007 for 24,840 yen (about $216).
The US currently has the Ceramic White Darth Vader PSP Slim as a limited edition/custom PSP. The UK has the Simpsons Yellow and Spider-Man Red PSP Slim editions. A very limited (77,777 total) Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core PSP Slim was previously released in Japan (see picture below).
It would've been cool if the PSP Slim had detachable face plates. The battery compartment easily counts as one piece. Nintendo's Gameboy Micro had the right idea, but the Micro never really took off. . Repackaged/limited PSPs could convince the hardcore fans to switch up or pay a premium for importing. If you're a hardcore Square-Enix or Star Ocean fan, this is for you. It'll take a Castlevania PSP Slim for me to upgrade mine!
