Why do you care so much, it's like this weird crusade to defend some product you bought.

tom you are sucha noob, read wikipedia. Ps3's ram is 256x2. 360's is 512. 256 x2 is 512. gpu=256 on ps3, cpu=256 on ps3 . xboxhas got to share it. You dont learn everything from the back of a pc game box under 'specs'.
Also they dont just put a game on dvd, and say 'here xbox, play this'. Its got to be programmed and other stuff. |

Whoever wrote 'the arguement should be' has no facts and made alot of mistakes.
#1 Xbox = 10 x 48(pipelines) x 500mhz = 240000 ... 240 gigaflops which are FLoating point Operations Per Second
Ps3 = 27 x 24(pipelines) x 550mhz = 356400 ... 356.4 gflops !!!!!!!!!! which are FLoating point Operations Per Second. Ps3's 356400 is a bigger number than 240000.
#2 hd dvd is gone, and blu-ray can be speeded up with software updates.
#3 Ps3 cell broadband processor runs 410 Glops
Xbox 360 xenos retarded skank runs 116Gflops
You cant fairly say that ps3's cpu isnt for games. Its still 410 gflops, with the right programming which developers are getting used to, ps3 games will get better and better. And since the games now are better that the 360's, 360 will go way down with the now cancelled hd-dvd.

Its hard to see the graphical advatage when the PS3 is being held back by the < 10gigs of data available for the 360. When you make a game multi-platform you have to tone it down to the system with the lowest abilities... otherwise COD4 would have come in a 5 disc box-set for 360 owners. Waste of a Blu-ray if you ask me.
Developers should work separately on PS3 titles as they have the potential to be so much better. PS3 owners are sick of being held to the DVD information capacity standards of yesteryear.
Enjoy your Rings of death this year. We'll all be playing online for FREE on an actual NEXT GEN console... not a re-hashed XBOX with a 5lb power brick tailing off the back.

Lol. I bought a brand new xbox 360 in June and had to return it the next day because it froze up and red ringed me. I would gladly trade my 360 for a ps3 any day.
#1, I'm stuck with paying $100 for a 20gb harddrive (rediculous) when you can upgrade the ps3 hardrive to 120gb for $80
#2 I have to run an ethernet cable 35 ft across my house so I can play online because the wireless network adapter cost $100 that I don't have whereas If I got a ps3 I would have a wireless connection and a 40gb harddrive for the same price xbox is pushing their model that only has a 20gb harddrive and no wireless net. adapter.
#3 I can't surf the internet or rip mp3's with my xbox which completely blows. I have to buy points so that I can use them to download things (if I had a hard drive) where if I had a ps3 I would only be limited by the space on the harddrive. When unreal tournament III (my favorite game that I only get to play on my buddies ps3) comes out in May and all the user created mods and maps are out I will be able to download and use 0 because I'm on xbox live.
Everyone thinks MS made a good product with the xbox and I do have fun playing it but there is no way it's a better deal or better gaming system than the ps3. I know 5 people that have xbox 360 other than myself and 4 of them have been redringed. If nothing else people should get a ps3 because they can at least know that it will work a year down the road. |

I'm sorry but if you think playstation 3 is garbage, you're retarded. Both systems are great. Xbox came out earlier and has mad a good run, but ps3 is starting to catch on a and lets face it.....its gonna sell quite a few more systems and have quite a few more games than the 360. just look at the 125 million units of ps2 sold vs. the 30 million xbox's sold. Playstation makes systems with very long shelf lives...xbox will probably have a new system out in a couple years...who knows |

the 360 is a better console because of the way it was built. on the other hand i am terrified of the fact that because the 360 tries to handle the grafics it overheats and crashes and breaks down the console, clearly not a problem with the playstation 3, at least not now. |

I love my 360, I bought it when it came out and killed my first one until M$ mailed a free 2nd. I been a gamer since "Pong" in 1980 and still going strong!! However I can recognize a good product when I see one and PS3 will soon join my entertainment center. Like many have said, both systems offer a variety of ways to enjoy your gaming. 360's online service is phenomenal and the console gives you a big bang for your buck. However Ps3 has huge potential that is finally being tapped. I'm excited about all the future possibilities. nuff said...game on!!! |

First off its down to choice of games and titles.

just cause one console sold more means nothing as 90% of them may have been re sold as people buy find out its crap
1 Graphics - xbox GPU has faster memory bandwith pols and trians and calculations
2 Blu ray has slow read times
3 Sony's CPU is ideal for an environment where 12.5% of the work is general-purpose computing and 87.5% of the work is DSP calculations. That sort of mix makes sense for video playback or networked waveform analysis, but not for games
The Cell's seven DSPs (what Sony calls SPEs) have no cache, no direct access to memory, no branch predictor, and a different instruction set from the PS3's main CPU. They are not designed for or efficient at general purpose computing. DSPs are not appropriate for game programming.
5 performance for gaming XBOX wins BUT....
the Wii has crap graphics but some people enjoy the games more than PS3 or 360 that what make it better in one way (i cant stand the wii)

If the PS3 version of the game has one more raindrop or blade of grass in it then the PS3 fanboys will be like "ZOMG THE PS3 VERSION IS MILES AHEAD OF THE 360 VERSION" even though they are failing to realize that XBL is miles better then the PS alternative and that all 360 games have achievments. Was COD 4 really a port ? that sounds pretty fan boyish to me. It was built on PC and then ported to both systems.
xbox 360 is the shit right now, soon ps3 will be dope as well, lets not forget how nuts the ps2 was in its prime.
In the meantime I agree that there is no real superior grafix with the ps3 version and xbox live is better, but sony halo level shooter Killzone 2 isn't out yet, and i like their allowing the mouse for unreal 3.

the games look essentially the same, this is what happens when they develope a game for the ps3 and port it to the 360.
The 360 is a better machine, handles twice the polygons, has better shader handling and twice the memory, so it takes the ps3 games and runs them no problem,
but when you port a 360 game to the ps3 you have to chop it down which is why they always look worse.
bottom line if the games look the same it is because it doesn't look as good as it could on the 360. |

OK i have both systems and i love em both so i am not being biased .
First.. Unforftunatly it shouldnt be this way but when a game developer uses a sertain platform (like stated alread) when they do that game on the other system they are lazy with it and dont put much effort into it .. and both systems are different when it comes to programming .. and sony has has the sloppy seconds a couple times (also due to late launch)..
360 is amazing but i am starting to see Playstation 3 when done right .. sharper ..
i think once developers master the hardware to this system it will become even more evident of its capabilities .
Also with Ratchet and clank .. even thought its just for PS3 the Developers actually did but effort into making it on 360 and over time they discovered it was only possible on ps3 to be performed the way it did .
The makers of Ureal tournament 3 are stating that the game is trully more impressive on ps3 then PC or 360 ..
Call of Duty 4 so far has better feedback and reviews on the PS3
Over time it will be learned of its full potention
But i still think Both systems rock
and even though it may not be affordable but to own both systems is the only way to go

i see no real difference between the two. i would agree that the playstation has certain adventages hardware wise. however these advantages tend to play out later in the console generation. microsoft realized this after the first x box and developed the 360 to be a solution to that. instead of focusing only on how much juice they could crank out, they decided to try to get as many quality games as possible for thier platform. they realized that most gamers dont have $1200 dollars to spend on game machines and tend to focus more on what games they want to play and what consoles they can play them on. seeing as the "juice" they can crank out seems to be more or less equal and the 360 has more games i want to play i would buy a 360 over a ps3. i dont want to have to pay $500 just to play resistance. |

It's been a year for the PS3, I'm sure as you can see the 3rd parts know what they're doing (EA get on the ball).
Xbox have some great games, and power.
If companies want to make the same game on both systmes, they should focus on both. Don't make it for one then try to cheaply bring to the other. Trust me I know i work with electronics, the Xbox 360 can push out some crazy shit.
The Playstation if worked on right can do the same, (look at COD4 and the up coming Assassin's Creed).
The thing is a true gamer needs both systems. Halo, is a must have. MGS4 no matter what, is a must have, the list will go on and on.
Think about it before you be all stupid you fanboys made a war that will not end. Till Xbox 720 and PS4 comes out.
