Need More Gaming Space? Split Your HD Signal To Two Displays PDF Print E-mail

With next week's debut of Rock Band, something like this is welcome. More screen real estate means more elbow room. The Accell UltraAV 1-2 HDMI splitter will allow you to output your PS3 or Xbox 360 video to two HD sets. It's simply a small AC powered box that mirrors a single HDMI source (from your Playstation 3 or Xbox 360) to two HD sets. Now, your split screen two-player local co-op sessions won't get much benefit (since the game screen is divided in two), but four people playing around a single HD set would benefit from the extra real estate (see picture from a Cnet video below). Of course, you will need two HDMI ready displays, so hopefully one of your band mates has a spare. The Accell UltraAV 1-2 HDMI splitter is also useful for game developers who want to present their games across multiple screens, as well as other convention uses.

Specs of the Accell UltraAV 1-2 HDMI splitter:
- Mirrors 1 audio/video device to 2 HDMI displays
- Supports 480p, 720p, 1080i and 1080p resolutions
- Supports computer resolutions up to 1920 x 1200
- Compatible with HDCP compliant devices
- Splitter can be daisy-chained for a larger distribution
- Fully compliant to the HDMI 1.2a specification
- Works with DVI devices using optional DVI adapter
- 24K gold-plated connectors provide superior connectivity

The Accell UltraAV 1-2 HDMI splitter has an MSRP of $119.99, but is available from Buy.com for $105.99. See more retailers here.
