The second Mass Effect novel will bridge the gap between the first Mass Effect game and second. Del-Rey Books and author Drew Karpyshyn have announced Mass Effect: Ascension. The novel is scheduled for release around Summer 2008. The first novel, Mass Effect: Revelation, was available prior to the release of the Xbox 360's Mass Effect game. The game will be a trilogy and the books will help keep fans fed with Mass Effect in between gaming. Who knows, maybe BioWare can go back and make the books parts 4, 5 and 6 as games, a la Star Wars. With such a rich universe, there is plenty of stuff to build on.

If you can't get enough of Mass Effect, or love atmospheric space-synth music, don't forget to check out the Mass Effect Soundtrack too. This is the only video game soundtrack I've ever purchased. Listen to samples here. The Normandy, Uncharted Worlds and "m4 part II" are some of the most memorable tracks.
