Xbox 360 motion controllers may not be that far off. Looks like Microsoft may be working with motion control developer Gyration to bring the technology to the Xbox 360, according to an article at XboxFamily.com. Gyration worked on early prototype motion control technology with Nintendo. Gyration has also developed a Windows Media Center Universal Remote, which uses "In-air cursor control using Patented Gyroscopic Motion-Sensing technology." Talk or mention of motion control is not new to the Xbox 360 platform, however, XboxFamily.com's article noting Gyration shows things could be well in development.
There's been attempts on getting the Wii Remote and motion technology to work with the Xbox 360 by home brew devs. One example is from Xilt. The homebrew mod from Xilt allows you to rig up a Xbox 360 controller to add motion control to the Xbox 360.
With Microsoft's Xbox 360 being the only current generation gaming console missing motion technology in a controller, it's a good possibility that it'll happen. Especially seeing how motion control gaming has been adopted and successful on the Wii. Motion control on the Xbox 360 has been bat about earlier this year, with the former Xbox 360's Peter Moore and Microsoft’s Chris Satchell sharing thoughts on it. There's been no official announcements from Microsoft on motion control on the Xbox 360.

Cool Written by Guest on 2007-12-30 13:26:39 Motion controllers can be super fun as long as they arent just logjammed into games. I cant wait. | The Redmond Xerox Written by Guest on 2007-12-30 03:03:55 That's all Microsoft knows how to do is copy the successful ideas of others. They are the ultimate committee, totally incapable of navigating their own red tape and hence fruitless idea huns. As per the stooge who commented on the Wii motion control remote experience as being "shottie" (rolling eyes), nothing could be further from the truth. The only reason any games are "shottie" (shaking head) is because of the uncreative game making machines that would rather quickly pump out sorry ports of games intended for old-school control pads by pathetically remapping buttons to gestures. Thankfully Nintendo is leading the charge and showing developers how to think differently (via games like Mario Galaxies) and get off their duffs and begin to actually use their imaginations again and cease with these sad ports. Microsoft has always been a follower, just like the lion's share of it's user base. There's nothing wrong with it, it simply "is". | THAT WAS A REALLY STUPID COMMENT Written by Guest on 2007-12-27 15:51:36 If microsoft uses the motion control it is only because they are trying to give people what they want. have you ever played the wii? the conrols are shottie and a hardcore gamer would not even want to play it. i currently have a gyration mouse and keyboard and the control of them work the same as the wii which is overall disapointing. they are not coping others, they are adapting a 2 year old console to fit with todays market and have to say they are doing a hell of a job. the hdmi and larger hdd are for future upgrades such as iptv which will make the system far better than anything else on the market. the hdmi is new technology as of a year ago. the larger hdd was also released early so people could get the most out of the offered downloads and now the "xbox originals" as well as downloading hd quality movies. the dreamcast controller looks just like any other controller, but the simialrities are only there if you try and point out certain features. sit them side by side and there is much to compair. | Written by Guest on 2007-12-27 14:32:57 EWWWWWWWWW. If microsoft does this every one will hate them for coping everything. They already copies the hdmi port, new hardrives, home button. This came for the PSP and all copying the dreamcast. have u ever looked at a dreamcast conttroler next to an xbox controller. It looks the same, just xbox has an extra anolog stick. microsoft just copy. I dont hate them but i hate there xbox. If the do motion control on there console i know ill see xbox 360 in the garbag for even homless ppl to take. |
