Nintendo has responded with a correction to a statement made in a New York Times article that stated "Mr. Fils-Aime said that future DS device will be more tightly integrated with its Wii console. Complete games as well as game samplers will be able to be downloaded into the Wii using its broadband connection, and then transferred wirelessly to the DS." The DS won't be getting complete game downloads using the 'net connected Wii.
"Users can download games to play on Wii, and, in the future, the Nintendo DS will be able to receive demo versions of some DS games from Wii, but not the entire game. The demo will be erased once the Nintendo DS is turned off," said a Nintendo rep. The statement lead to rumors and speculation of a new Nintendo DS device capable of storing/saving data on the device. The DS can currently download demos from DS Download Stations in retail stores. While you can close the DS and play the demo later, once you shut the DS off the demo is gone. In the Wii game Geometry Wars: Galaxies, you can download the full game of Geometry Wars: Retro Evolved to the DS (from the game disc). That works the same way as the DS demo downloads. Once you shut the DS off, it is gone as well. From 1up.com and New York Times
