The Sony PlayStation Portable is getting plenty of great new functionality. CES 2008 has brought plenty of good news for the PSP. Skype, GPS, a larger 16GB Memory Stick Pro Duo and now you can transfer Blu-ray movies from the PS3 to it, with "BD Live." At CES, Sony demonstrated transferring a movie from a Blu-ray disc in the Playstation 3 to a PSP or a Memory Stick. David Bishop, president of Sony Pictures Home Entertainment said: "This way, you can have a portable copy you can take with you. There was always the promise of greater interactivity. You'll see that coming in the new year." Sounds like the PSP is shaping up to become a great mixed media device in addition to a great gaming handheld. There's also a first-party PSP keyboard planned for mid-2009. More to come soon!
