Wondering if playable Virtual Console game demos will ever appear on the Wii? Soon they will, though not like you may have expected. Nintendo is packing playable demos of some of its Virtual Console games on the Super Smash Bros. Brawl game disc. "Masterpieces" have been announced at the Smash Bros. Dojo, the official website of Smash Bros. Brawl.
From the Smash Bros. Dojo: "That’s right, for the first time ever, you can play trial versions of these games by the miracle of Virtual Console! That’s what Masterpieces is! Here you can relive the greatest battles of the biggest star characters through demo versions of their games."
The playable game demos appearing as part of the "Masterpiece" collection includes: All those titles are currently available from the Wii Virtual Console (via Wii Shop). There are several other titles that are also included, which the Smash Bros. Dojo site does not reveal. At least not in English. From the site: "But hmm, it seems there are still titles hiding in the Masterpieces section. Titles?! What games don’t I know about?! That discovery is part of the fun, isn’t it?" As Wired's Game|Life blog notes, the Japanese version of the site does include "Mother2" on its "Masterpieces" list. Mother2 is known in the US as EarthBound, released in Japan as Mother 2: Gyiyg Strikes Back. Could that be one of the titles on the way to the Wii Virtual Console soon? Fire Emblem is the other Japanese demo game not shown on the US Smash Bros. Dojo listing of Masterpieces.
