Here's another rumor on the latest Playstation 3's console availability and pricing. The 80GB Playstation 3 is "going closeout and won't be replaced" at retailer Best Buy. This comes from an internal Best Buy memo, posted here at PS3Fanboy.
The memo says: "The 80GB version of the PS3 is going closeout and won't be replaced at this time. It will come off the planogram on Jan. 28. The 60GB version should already be gone from stores. Only the 40GB version of PS3 will be sold in Best Buy stores at this time. This means that there currently isn't a version that is PS2 compatible. At this time, Sony hasn't made new announcements about new products." The 80GB Playstation 3 was the $499 bundle that included Motorstorm, memory card ports, 2 additional USB ports and supported Playstation 2 backwards compatibility. The 40GB model includes the Spiderman 3 Blu-ray disc and goes for $399. The current "PS3 Hardware" availability on BestBuy.com only lists the 40GB Playstation 3. There's been no official announcement from Sony on this. As for another Playstation 3 configuration taking its place, a white Playstation 3 recently showed up in FCC documents. From PS3Fanboy
