Gran Turismo 5 Prologue Gets 4/17/08 Release Date; 8 new screens and video PDF Print E-mail

Gran Turismo 5 Prologue gets an official release date for 4/17/08, announced today by Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA). GT5 Prologue will be released at retailers as a Blu-ray disc and in download format from the Playstation Store (PSN) for $39.99, similar to the distribution of Warhawk. The Blu-ray disc does include a bonus: a high-def “Beyond the Apex” video. In the video, developer Polyphony Digital shares some behind-the-scenes details on the development of GT5 Prologue.

Features of GT5 Prologue:
- Race online with up to 16 drivers simultaneously.
- More than 60 cars, including vehicles from Ferrari, Audi, Nissan and Mitsubishi.
- Five tracks, including the Eiger Nordwand, the London City Track and Suzuka.
- New physics engine gives authentic handling specific to each car.
- New in-cockpit view, with gauges and human animations to match driving experience.
- All-new and improved opponent AI.
- Gran Turismo TV: "a clearinghouse of great motoring TV (video) programming (both HD and SD – all broadcast quality) online through PLAYSTATION Network."
- Supports DUALSHOCK 3 controller for vibration functionality.
- Quick Tune facility allows you to adjust power, tires, suspension and more.
- Gran Turismo 5 Prologue runs in HD at1080p (race: 1080p-60fps, replay: 1080p-30fps).
