On the eve of the release of Devil May Cry 4, there's been quite a stir on the 'net about Devil May Cry 4 on the Playstation 3. If you own both a Playstation 3 and an Xbox 360, you've probably been torn between which version to get. I know I have. Capcom has done a great job in keeping the visuals balanced on both platforms. Look at the comparison video and there's not much to compare. After trying the demo on both versions as well, the differences were barely, if at all, noticeable. It's almost like the HD DVD video quality to Blu-ray video quality debate.
So what's the latest stir? The 20-some minute install time on the Playstation 3. CVG is reporting the mandatory 5 Gig install doesn't provide any considerable in-game loading difference from the Xbox 360 version.
Capcom's Chris "Kramez" Kramer has responded to the grumbling of the install time on its Community Blog: Joking aside, he does note there is also a benefit to the install time: "While the game is loading, you get to watch a really nifty series of screens that completely catch you up on the DMC4 backstory. Think of it as compressing the last three “seasons” into a single info blast, accompanied by some fantastic DMC artwork. It’s great for those new to the series and also a good refresher to serious fans (you can also check out all these screens again later in the Library mode)." The install process isn't a deal breaker for me. While I'm eagerly awaiting my pre-order of the Playstation 3 Collector's Edition version, maybe I'll watch an episode of Devil May Cry: The Animated Series on my Xbox 360 or flip through the art book during the install. Whichever platform you choose, enjoy Devil May Cry 4. From the Capcom US Blog
