Xbox 360 HD DVD Player Price Cut PDF Print E-mail

Various gaming and tech sites had posted a $79.99 deal for the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player (regular MSRP $179.99) on Amazon.com. While the Xbox 360 HD DVD players sold out quickly, CheapAssGamer.com had noted a banner on Amazon.com that announced the "New Low Price". Could a new MSRP tag be underway and this be an aggressive move against the Blu-ray market?

Other large retailers like Circuit City, GameStop and Walmart still have the $179.99 MSRP, however Best Buy has the next lowest price listing at $119.99. Microsoft has not announced a price-cut yet. Let us know if you find any sub $179.99 prices on the Xbox 360 HD DVD Player!

UPDATE: Microsoft has officially dropped the MSRP to $129.99. Read more at Microsoft's GamerscoreBlog.com

It would make sense for Microsoft to cut the price of its HDDVD because at one point it was the cheapest option. But now with Toshiba having their $150 player out...people with Xbox360s would be losing money going with the Xbox HDDVD
