Koei has officially announced the release date for the upcoming Wii title, Opoona. The lifestyle RPG (alá Animal Crossing) stars young Opoona, who is marooned on the planet Landroll after a family vacation gone wrong. The game forces players to adapt to society, by contributing in the form of acquiring jobs and other tasks. Also, combat is involved against the Dark Rogues (creatures of Landroll), which Opoona's warrior blood fares well against. Unique to this Wii game is the single-hand Nunchuk controls.
Senior Vice President at Koei, Amos Ip has this to say about the combat: "Opoona will give video gamers a refreshing and new perspective on the Role-Playing genre. The 'single-hand control' combined with the modern fantasy world of Opoona is sure to captivate both veteran gamers and newcomers alike. " The game is developed by ArtePiazza of Dragon Quest fame and features music by heralded Squaresoft composer Hitoshi Sakimoto. Opoona will be released on March 25, 2008 for the Nintendo Wii.
