Wondering where you can download the Lost Planet demo from the Playstation 3's PSN? Capcom and Sony have removed the downloadable demo for Lost Planet that was released just last Thursday. A statement on the Capcom Blog stated:
"The multiplayer demo for Lost Planet: Extreme Condition is temporarily being removed from the PlayStation Network in order to address issues that have come to light. We will be working overtime to correct the issue and expect to upload a new version to the PlayStation Network as soon as possible that accurately reflects the incredible online features of the game. For those of you who have already downloaded the demo, the servers are being taken down until the new version is ready to go. We apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your patience and your interest in Lost Planet! Stay tuned." As the initial screens of the Lost Planet Playstation 3 demo said: "This software product is currently in development and, as such, may contain unforeseen problems. CAPCOM is not responsible for any problems that may result from its use. Please note that the trial period of the online multi-player demo may be terminated without notice." You've been warned. It's not often we see it happen, but here's an example. If you previously downloaded the demo, you'll still be able to get online, but don't expect smooth sailing. You may have to retry a few times to get a game going. I was able to host a session today (2/10/08) and play with UK, Japanese and US Playstation 3 players. I ranked a sad 4th place out of 8. The online multiplayer is definitely one of the gems of the game, so hopefully Capcom will get it sorted out. We'll let you know when the demo is back online for downloading.
