Nintendo and Best Buy Team Up to Crown a National Champion

REDMOND, Wash., Feb. 13, 2008 - Attention all Smash fans: Put up your dukes! Just before the launch of the much-anticipated Super Smash Bros.® Brawl, Mario™ and friends are hosting four regional Wii™ tournaments. The competitions will visit Los Angeles, San Francisco, Boston and finally New York for a Midnight Madness Launch event at the Best Buy store at 622 Broadway in New York. All of the 256 participants at each location will receive a $10 Best Buy gift card. One lucky grand prize winner will receive a custom-designed, crystal-covered Wii, a home theater system from Best Buy and other prizes.

"Super Smash Bros. Brawl has extreme appeal among our core audience, but these tournaments are a great way to get new fans involved as well - before the game is even available in stores."

Each regional tournament will provide the first 256 people in attendance the chance to "brawl" one-on-one with other contestants in a single-elimination tournament to determine a winner in each market. Regional winners will face off in a final multiplayer "brawl" at the New York City tournament.

The grand prize winner will receive a crystal-coated Wii with a design from Super Smash Bros. Brawl, a home theater system from Best Buy and a copy of the game. Super Smash Bros. Brawl features dozens of Nintendo characters, from Mario to Link™ to Pikachu®, as well as new characters like Solid Snake, a gritty soldier from Konami's hugely popular Metal Gear series, and Sonic The Hedgehog. The combat-filled game lets characters of all kinds brawl until only one is left standing. Its predecessor, Super Smash Bros.® Melee, was the best-selling game of all time for Nintendo GameCube™. Super Smash Bros. Brawl has more characters, more features and more action-packed fun. What's more, Super Smash Bros. Brawl uses Nintendo® Wi-Fi Connection, which allows up to four players to simultaneously brawl no matter where they are based. Torture! Why can't it be closer to home

Read above message. It states that we have to WASTE our money on plane tickets or gas just to get to these places. It's discrimination! We, the middle class people, deserve a chance to come to these things. But do we ever get the chance? NO! It's because they always hold these things in the same places! Why don't I ever get a chance? Why do the rich people get first grab at the game? Is Nintendo doing this all for profit? It's MADNESS!

Also, Fox sux. Pikachu is better! Pikachu RULES THE EARTH! None can stand up to it's might! Tremble at it's feet, or be SHOCKED!

do you need 2 sign up anywhere on the internet or sumthin? or just go and enter
I could win anyway

It doesn't matter that there is items, what matters is that you get in enough hits to ensure victory. You don't even need them. Besides, when the game comes out, you won't even need these tournaments. You could host them right in your living room! Also, if I end up there (which I probably won't) you guys wouldn't even stand a chance. Fear me, for I am the Game Master!
promotional tournament

starting roster only, 4 minutes, all items on high, battlefield only,
whats worse classic controllers only. No gamecube controllers cause nintendo said they didnt want anyone to have an advantage over another player. Stupid right?

any noob can win, the one in los angeles did with kirby because he got more items. This tournament isnt skillful at all , nintendo just wanted to let people have a try at the game.
