How does the post-holiday season month fare for the video game business? On the hardware side, the Wii still remains on top, but the Playstation 3 makes a notable jump to second place. The Xbox 360 slips to the last spot, which Microsoft is claiming due to hardware shortages. On the game software side, Call of Duty 4 is claiming the top spot for its Xbox 360 version, with Burnout Paradise managing to slip in amongst all the rock games. A couple of new DS games break in the top 10 as well.

Game hardware sales (in units):
1. Wii: 274,000
2. Playstation 3: 269,000
3. PS2: 264,000
4. DS: 251,000
5. Sony PSP: 230,000
6. Xbox 360: 230,000

Game software sales (in units), top ten:
1. Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare—Activision—Xbox 360—330.9K
