Puzzle Quest: Challenge of The Warlords fans can look for a new take on the game in the coming months ahead. Developer Infinite-Interactive revealed the next take on the now new Puzzle Quest series with Puzzle Quest: Galactrix. Instead of continuing with the wizards and warriors theme and setting of the previously released Puzzle Quest, this puzzle adventure game takes place in a futuristic setting.
Features of Puzzle Quest: Galactrix includes:
- Create a persistent pilot who gains skills and ships as he completes more battles.
- Each enemy you fight will require different tactics.
- Individual battles require only 5-10 minutes of time.
- Experience a conquer-the-galaxy style campaign mode.
- Find new objects to make your pilot and ship all-powerful.
- Trade supplies throughout the galaxy to increase your wealth.
- Meet companions who will join your crew and aid you in battle.
- Take your pilot and ship online against other players.
- Compete for positions on the online high score tables.
- Download new content - ships, items, plans, planets, factions and missions.
The tiles now have a hexagonal shape, as well as corresponding symbols inside (useful for the color-blind). So matching takes place diagonally. Being that the new environment is space, a planet's gravitational pull also has an effect on gameplay. Watch for more details soon.
Puzzle Quest: Galactrix will be available for the Xbox 360 (XBLA), Nintendo DS, PSP and PC, with the possibility of a Mac release as well. See a couple of screenshots below.

Failing up with Puzzle Quest Written by Guest on 2008-02-25 12:40:33 Best news I've heard all day. I had a love/hate relationship with the last one, but will definitely give it another go. I do hope though that this time they don't give you experience points for losing fights so that it only gets easier the more you play. I wrote a post about this back in the day here: http://resignedgamer.blogspot.com/search/label/Puzzle%20QuestThe Resigned Gamer | Original was driving me bonkers Written by Guest on 2008-02-25 09:58:32 I tried PQ at the suggestion of many online game reviews and I must say that I gave it up onc ebecause the gam started to make me feel ill and tried it again but had the same effect. The problem is, aside from everything in the game like advancement and whatnot, it all boils down to you obsessing over countless patterns of icons and figuring out patterns to switch and switch and switch again. After hours of this nonsesnsical repetition I began to feel ill. I liken it to some kind of torture they may demand of Guantanamo prisoners, only you can never ever stop. if the damn game had more mini puzzles involved instead of one nausea inducing Bejeweled wannabe over and over, I might feel compelled to like it. |
